Information for Parents

Torrens Valley Christian School is a family school. It is important that your children sense that you as a familyPArent and child are a part of that community. Thus, parental involvement is welcomed and encouraged.

Opportunities for involvement include:

  • assisting teachers in the classroom and on excursions, camps and out-of-classroom learning programs.
  • taking a small group of students in a short-term elective in your area of skill.
  • helping out on working bees and special projects.
  • becoming part of a support group such as the Parents and Friends or prayer group.
  • assisting the library with cataloguing or covering books.
  • working on one of the committees that are vital in the running of the school eg. finance, promotion or building committee.

We believe that education is a partnership between the family and the school. The school and the family should work together to help each of our children reach their full potential. Thus, communication between the class teacher and parents is encouraged, and the resulting relationship facilitates the resolution of any difficult issues.

The Association
Torrens Valley Christian School is a ‘Parent Controlled Christian School.’  This means that it is owned and operated by an association of Christian people who have joined forces to provide Christian education. The incorporated association is called The Torrens Valley Association for Christian Education Inc. The association is non-denominational. Its members are from many different social and vocational backgrounds, and include parents and grandparents of students, friends of the school and former students. Please come and speak to someone in the front office if you are interested in applying for membership or more information on the association.

Parents and Friends
The Parents and Friends Committee (P&F) exists to serve the School Community in partnership with parents, teachers, students and Community groups to enhance and enrich the life of the School.

Our P&F group serves the school by arranging social events, nurturing new families, giving classroom and special events support, providing fellowship and sponsorship for special projects through fundraising.

Parents are encouraged to become involved through a variety of ways, including becoming a committee member, assisting with hot lunches and other catering functions (sports day canteens, graduation suppers, morning teas), Triple C and their stalls, special events and fundraising initiatives.

Parents are welcome to join our Prayer Group each Friday at 9 am in the staffroom.
