COVID-19 Term 1 Update 03

By Sasha Thompson COVID-19 Response 2/03/2022

Plans in place to support students impacted by COVID-19

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

As we navigate this challenging Covid season, I am writing to reassure you of the measures we have in place at TVCS to manage these challenges and remind you of the partnership we share with you in the education of your children.

Your Family’s Health and Wellbeing

Your family’s wellbeing is of paramount importance to us.

Please be reassured that we are receiving, and responding to, covid updates from the South Australian Government and SA Health and implementing them in the school context.

As guidelines change frequently, we ask that families refer to the SA Health website directly for the latest updates on school safety, isolation periods, testing regimes and the management of positive cases in the school community.

These are challenging times, and we ask for your patience and understanding as we journey together.

Continuity in Classrooms

We recognise how important stability and routine is for your children.

We place a high priority on maintaining staffing continuity in our classrooms and make every endeavour to ensure students have minimal disruption to their normal routines and educational programs.

Despite the significant challenges posed by isolation and health requirements, we have taken intentional measures to minimise staffing changes and support classes in the disruption of Covid.

We have a pool of teaching and educational support staff who have been employed to step in on short notice to cover sudden absences. These staff are committed to the school’s ethos and well-known to the students.

We ask for your patience and understanding in this changing season and encourage you to contact the school should you have concerns for your child’s education or wellbeing. We are always eager to support and assist you.

Educational Support for Families in Isolation

We recognise that educational continuity has been disrupted for many students as they are required to isolate, or families make choices in the best interest of their children.

Family care is first and foremost our priority. During this time, where some families are required to isolate due to Covid, please be assured that there is no expectation for students to complete schoolwork whilst at home. Students will be supported once they return to school to ensure continuity in their learning.

As you can appreciate, we will not be offering School at Home or individualised learning content.

However, for families who are seeking learning opportunities for their children during their time in isolation, we have attached a Facts Sheet entitled ‘Supporting Learning for Students in Isolation‘ which contains details of how to access this support.

Our Christian hope…

As always, we press into God during these challenging times. These are hard days for us as a community. We share the frustration, grief and even anger that the decisions before some of you will cause such heartache and, in some cases, significant hardship as you suffer loss, difficulty and isolation.

It has been such an encouragement to hear from many of you that your trust and hope for the future is in God. May we continue to uphold each other in prayer, and in practical support, over these coming weeks. Let’s be encouraged by these words in Romans 8 –

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

As always, my door is open. Please don’t hesitate to direct any queries you might have to me or to the specific COVID hotline: COVID19@tvcs.sa.edu.au

Please know you are in my heart and prayers.

Yours in Christ
