Introducing Foundation – TVCS’s Mid-Year Intake for 2024 and beyond
Welcome to our unique mid-year intake program at Torrens Valley Christian School. Our unique program combines learning experiences to meet young children’s developmental needs, preparing them for Reception the following year.
Our Foundation program will revolve around five key influences:
Crafted Formational Learning lies at the heart of our purpose. We aim to develop not only the minds of our students but also their hearts and hands, allowing them to grow in wisdom, Godliness, and practical skills. At our Junior Primary, we value every child’s individuality and promote their exploration, decision-making, and skill-building in different environments. Our approach is designed to cater to each child’s unique needs.
With this program, our deep hope is to empower children to enter their schooling years, ready to thrive in their educational journey and beyond.
Creating a sense of belonging
Our mid-year intake children are welcomed into the vibrant life of our school. They will have the opportunity to participate in assemblies, Book Week celebrations, Learning Journeys, swimming lessons, Carols Night, and more. Our focus is on creating a sense of belonging and engagement from day one.
Programs
To support our curriculum goals, we offer programs like Move and Groove and Playgroup. These activities provide additional avenues for learning, development, and socialization, enhancing the overall experience of our students.
The environment
We've carefully planned our classroom setup and layout to accommodate both new programs and parents. Our commitment to providing an enriching environment extends to ensuring that our facilities are conducive to learning, exploration, and community engagement.
Moving into Reception and beyond
In Term 4, we assess phonemic awareness, pre-reading, pre-writing, and basic math skills. The data collected is shared with the future Reception teachers to ensure a seamless transition.
