WORDS BY LAURA ZAVARCE
In week 5, our incredible Primary Students performed in The Lion King Junior Musical!
Two years ago, this privilege was denied by the beginning of a one in a one-hundred-year pandemic. Music stopped, concert halls closed, and our beloved Primary Musical was cancelled. This year, we are blessed with the opportunity to go out, be together, sing, dance and perform live to you, our treasured audience.
Presenting a classic musical, such as The Lion King JR, is a labour of love only possible with an amazing creative team. Thanks to Alirio Zavarce for his drama expertise and passion for teaching youth. It has been amazing recreating the African savannah with you!
We were blessed to have Mrs Abbott being the guiding force behind the amazing artwork on every headpiece. A huge thank you to the very talented and resourceful Rachel Thompson for her efforts in sourcing and creating the costumes. A special thank you to Mrs Chalmers and Mrs Bridge who helped create the Grasslands. A sincere thank you to Mr Draper and Mr Clark who constructed our set. Thanks to the Year 5 and 6 teachers for being so supportive and Mrs Thorpe for her legendary ability to clear every obstacle in the way.
It was humbling to have so many secondary students willing and ready to help in every area of this production. Thank you to each volunteer for lending your talents, time, and love. I would also like to thank all the family and friends of each of the cast members on stage today for their help and support.
Finally, thanks to the stars of our show: the Year 5 and 6 children are to be congratulated on their commitment and enthusiasm. A project like this promotes the development of self-confidence, self-esteem and teamwork, and enables our children to display their God given gifts and talents.
