STEP OUT… INTO A NEW YEAR
Welcome to the new school year!
I trust you and your family have had a restful break. The staff and I are eagerly looking forward to seeing you and hearing all your news!
A very special welcome to new families! It is lovely to welcome you to Torrens Valley Christian School and we trust you will soon feel at home in our community. I can’t wait to see you face-to-face!Read more..
As we move into 2021, it is my prayer that we will experience God’s hand of blessing on our school community as we develop young people to believe, belong and become all that God created them to be.
SACE RESULTS: Congratulations to our 2020 Year 12 cohort! Results were exceptional! The high standard of academic achievement obtained last year was a credit to the students and staff, with our students performing well above the best state averages. 100% students completed their SACE. The top ATAR was 99.75 and 16% of our students attained an ATAR above 90. Students at TVCS attained a total of nineteen A+ grades, seven with Merit. 35% of all results were A grades and 82% of all results were B’s or higher. 16% of ATAR’s were over 90, with 40% of ATAR’s over 80.
Special congratulations to Blake (Merits for Chemistry and Physics), Joelle (Merit for General Mathematics and Material Solutions), Joson (Merit for Maths Methods and Biology) and Michael (Merit for Digital Communication Solutions). I congratulate students, staff and parents for these outstanding results.
NEW STAFF! As a new year begins, I would like to especially welcome new staff members, Mr Frasier de Kok, who will be joining our team in the Primary School, Mrs Anthea Pietsch in Education Support and Mrs Angela Sabljak who will be working as Sports Coach and Administrator. A special welcome back to Mr Mark Pompeuse who is returning from leave to work in Secondary School.
Under the capable leadership of Wellbeing Team Leader, Margaret Garland, our Wellbeing Team will expand to include Mr David Chikwuba and Mrs Julia Visszmeg in their role as School Counsellors, along with Margaret Garland and Matt Parker as Chaplains.
It is lovely to be able to welcome these new staff members and we pray God’s blessing on them as they serve Him at TVCS!
FACILITIES! Our facilities are looking their very best for the start of the new school year! There have been numerous modifications to facilities, IT developments and up-grades, enhancing IT support for staff and students. Major work has been undertaken in the classrooms, with some areas being re- painted and carpeted. The whole school is looking lovely!
OPENING SERVICE! It is my pleasure to personally welcome you and your family to attend our 2021 Opening Service which will be held at 7.00pm on Monday, 15 February at Hope Valley Church. This is a time where we will pray for Torrens Valley Christian School and give thanks to God for His faithfulness to our school community. An invitation will be sent to you in the near future.
SPIRITUAL FOCUS! Based on Matthew 14: 22-36 and Ephesians 3: 14-22, this year’s theme will challenge us personally to Step Out: to take a step of faith, move out of our comfort zone, to trust God for the impossible, to submit in faith…and experience the radical blessings of God.
2021 promises to be an exciting year and I look forward to seeing you in the new term!
Yours in Christ’s service, Julie Prattis. Principal.
A PRAYER FOR THE NEW YEAR…
2021 has already posed many joys and challenges…. with the prospect of more to come! Perhaps you are asking, ‘What will 2021 hold?’
Many families have had the chance to see family for the first time all year, with the joy of sharing hugs of delight and the tears of reunion. For others, you were able to visit treasured locations that are precious to you and your family, personally. For others, it has been an eventful start to the year, as your plans changed, holidays were cancelled, or you were required to self-isolate.
2021 has already challenged us to take a step of faith, move out of our comfort zone, to trust God for the impossible, to submit in faith…and experience the radical blessings of God.
As COVID continues to ravage our world, we see families separated from loved ones, borders closed, plans changed and life uncertain. We see bravery personified through the work of our medical personnel, volunteers and support organisations. And we are heartbroken for those people and nations who continue to experience heartache created by the virus.
As Christians, we are reminded of the supremacy of our God over all things. God is our refuge, our hope, our anchor and our loving Father. And it is in these times, we draw close to Him, trusting the One who is victorious over all.
As we Step Out in faith, God’s Word reminds us that He “is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us”, to His glory…” Ephesians 3:20-21
I would like to take the opportunity to commit this year to God:
Our Heavenly Father, creator of all things, we commit the year ahead to you.
May all that happens in our school community bring honour and glory to you.
Please care for our families, protect and guard our community and grow our faith as we walk with you.
Help our children to settle into their classes, make friends quickly and thrive in their learning. May they come to know and love you more deeply this year.
Father we pray, in your mercy, restrain the spread of the pandemic and prevent it from creating catastrophic damage; in your mercy, protect human life. Bring comfort and healing to all who have suffered loss.
Guard those who selflessly step into the breach to provide medical care.
Guide government, police and authorities who make decisions for our nation and give them wisdom.
We pray that, in your miraculous power you would bring an end to the pandemic.
We thank you, Lord, for you are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.
We bring these requests before your throne, in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
See you next Thursday!
We are so excited to welcome you to school for 2021. Our first day of school is Thursday, 28 January.

How to access the School Card discount for 2021
The School Card discount is NOT automatic.
At the beginning of each year you must apply to the Department for Education and Child Development (DECD) and receive official notification that you are eligible before the School can make concessions. School Card applications are now made online here.
Once you have lodged your application, please send a copy of the confirmation of lodgment (screenshot or email) to email@example.com.
If you require any assistance with this process, please contact the School and ask for assistance from the Office Staff. Tuition fees will be invoiced at the full rate until such time as official notification of eligibility has been received by the school. Please pay the school card rate by the due date if you are applying for School Card.
2021 School Fees
All families are required to pay their school fees via our FACTS Management Australia online self-service portal via an automatic payment schedule from your bank account or credit card. Invoices for tuition fees are invoiced annually in late January.
Our Finance Officer, Mrs Belinda Hamber-Vanderpeer is available to meet with you and answer any questions regarding your tuition fees, entry deposit or school card. Please don’t hesitate to contact her on firstname.lastname@example.org
