Is the SA Health Department currently allowing students to drink from water fountains and, if so, are there any additional arrangements around cleaning?
There are hygiene measures that need to be personally taken to ensure the safe use of shared drinking water fountains and bubblers.
One of the most important measures is to avoid placing the mouth directly on the fountain or bubbler. Due to this measure SA Health encourages parents to provide children with their own personal, labelled and named, drink water bottles. SA Health’s full advice on hygiene, water and sanitation can be found below.
It was our absolute pleasure to host the Honourable John Gardner MP.
During his visit, Year 6 students stomped their way through music lessons, making a coordinated bang and tap on bottles and chairs.
Our therapy dog Spencer was a hit and Middle School Coordinator, Trevor Coward gave a snapshot of what makes our school shine during Years 7 – 9.
And finally, Year 11s confidently expressed how their Research Projects were progressing to the Minister, from ancient animals to wave breaks.
What a showcase – we couldn’t be more proud!
Our first Year 6, 7 and 8 Lego Robotics teams had the privilege of presenting their research projects to Dr Richard Harvey MP – Member for Newland.
This included our Year 7/8 team “Torrens Valley Cybernetics”, who presented their idea of creating a Motivator App. The App encourages teenagers and young adults to be more active in the Tea Tree Gully area.
The last item on the Hot Lunches Menu is Butter Chicken Curry (Week 5). Yum!

We are pleased to showcase student work from across Years 4-7.
Students participated in Chinese classes in Term 3 and produced these stunning works.
On Friday 30 October, Katrina Germein, a local picture book author, visited our school to complete our Book Week celebrations.
Katrina shared some of her books with the Reception to Year 5 classes, including ‘Shoo You Crocodile!’, ‘Tell ‘em’, ‘Thunderstorm Dancing’ and ‘My Mum Says the Strangest Things’.
Most importantly she reminded the students that they are fabulous story tellers themselves and to write their ideas down!
Receptions had a wonderful day at the Botanic Gardens using their maps.
They have been learning about maps in HASS this term. They were able to look for places in the gardens they would like to go, using the coordinates and the key, and then find their way there.
Thank you to all the wonderful parent helpers who came along.
To celebrate their last day of lessons, the Year 12s were treated to a delicious breakfast, followed by an incredibly special Guard of Honour formed by the rest of the school.
The assembly that followed brought tear jerking moments, laughs and memories.
Our theme this term in Year 8 Core Studies is Making a Difference.
Students have responded to this theme by participating in Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child gift giving.
Students helped fill 58 shoe boxes with a variety of items which will bless children living in a developing nation this Christmas.

As part of the new year 12 Physical Education subject we have been looking at Psychological Factors that affect performance and participation in physical activity.
We have been discussing things like time, money, availability of resources, space, health and safety as factors.
To develop this further we took the Year 12 class to Morialta Conservation Park for the day to learn how to work as a team, encourage each other and overcome psychological barriers to participation.
On Wednesday 28 October, our very first Lego League Teams (Microbots and Cybernetics) visited Horizon Christian School to work with their Year 9 and 10 Digital Technologies students.
Our students worked with Horizon Students to show them how to program an EV3 robot and the new SPIKE Prime robots in order to complete challenges on a FLL challenge mat.
While we were there, our teams had the privilege of being able to present their projects to Horizon principal and gain valuable feedback for their own competition.
For the first time, Year 5/6 Tennis Hot Shots district carnivals were organised by Tennis SA. It was great to see students who had previously participated in Hot Shots in Year 3/4, and some new faces, having the chance to compete in both singles and doubles matches on Thursday 29 October. There were 6 teams in the competition, 2 teams from Banksia Park, a team from Pedare, and 2 teams from TVCS. All teams are to be congratulated on their sportsmanship!
This term our Years 3/4 Boys, 3/4 Girls, 5/6 Boys and 5/6 boys participated in SACSA Netball. All teams participated extremely well and supported each other with positive enthusiasm!

Junior Parliament is a non-partisan program that gives young people an opportunity to learn about democracy, parliament, team building, public speaking and leadership in a fun and supportive environment.
In 2021, the School of Languages are introducing beginner courses of Auslan, for either Primary, Secondary (Years 8/9) or Adults.
